I've dropped the blogger ball while in Bulgaria.
My time off is so spontaneous and the beach is so close to our hotel I can't resist it.
I do spend a lot of my beach time pondering my future.
What am I going to do when I'm off on my own?
I wish I had a concrete plan to divulge but honestly I don't.
I'm not sure what my expectations should be.
I haven't lived in the US in 3.5 years and I feel disconnected with the culture.
I'm truthfully unsure of what to expect while assimilating back 'into the swing of things'.
Especially since I don't have a group of friends/community to go back to.
I'll have my parents and my Grandma.
A very small cluster of friends (who aren't friends with each other), in very committed relationships, who will be at home.
Most of those friends think I'm completely insane and still can't believe I left for Asia.
I guess I'm saying I have a lot of work to do to make my new life happy.
I've found some exciting groups on Meetup.com (Hiking anyone?) and a dance school catering to people in their 20's!
One thing I am excited about, despite my obstacles, is decorating!
Being a Nomad for the past bit, I've prioritized my money for travel and not for my home.
I'm looking forward to rooting and investing time and money into my future abode.
I loved going dumpster diving and visiting thrift stores to refurbish furniture for my apartments in San Francisco. And growing up my sister, Dad and I would often launch into some sort of DIY project for our rooms. I'm excited to get creative outside of the kitchen.
I've found loads of idea on Pinterested to get me thinking.
When things have been rough here, Hope keeps me happy.
I love this. It's so homey and looks quite simple to make.
I like this idea for a DIY headboard, maybe instead of the word Love.
Obviously, I want a puppy.
I've never been a fan of water colors but the following prints really captured me.
Lastly, I want to make a giant map where I can chart my travels. I don't want to use a paper map so I like the idea of drawing one on wood. I'm not sure how to mark where I've been. Perhaps mini photos over the region? Or maybe using string ( a la, facebook) to show my travels? It's an idea in needs of evolution. Any tips or thoughts would be welcomed graciously.
I'm very excited to get back into a kitchen and start cooking.
As a Californian, I have an innate lust for all things salmon.
Mushrooms, avocado, basil and hot sauce.
We recently visited a Georgian restaurant in Bulgaria. I had never tried the cuisine it was easy to fall in love. Pureed nuts was a running themed in our dishes. The dish below is pureed walnuts wrapped in caramelized eggplant. It's so, so good.
Eggplant and walnut mash.
Not a Georgian delight but mushrooms are one of my favorite foods!
Lots of motivation to keep me focused.
( I'll be in California in less than a month, crazy!)
